This was my second time filming in Africa, and it happened to be in Conakry, Guinea, again, several years after having worked on Black Out there as well. The conditions had changed a fair bit in the meantime, there had been a failed attempt on the President’s life about a year prior to this one, so the security measures were significantly more drastic in the streets, leading to a few interesting situations and conversations with the Army in the evenings…
We were filming mostly on the beaches, which were used as training grounds by the insanely talented acrobats & artists of Cirque Mandingue, who were preparing for a European tour.
